Holt, where's your belly?

This is Holt's belly after a huge bowl of yogurt, a whole bananna, and a size of lasagna an adult would eat. He wanted more but I was worried he would get sick. It really is amazing how much the boy can eat. He wants to eat all day long. I have to say it is nice after having a picky first eater yet hard because I feel like he is never satisfied. I still have to bribe Pierce through dinner and really encourage him to eat. I can not eat anything in front of Holt or even walk into the kitchen without him going crazy and pointing and fussing for food. We laught at his belly every night after dinner and say "Holt where's your belly?" and he starts rubbing it, its pretty cute!

Candy Drawer

Any of you who know me well know that I have a slight obsession with candy and eat it all the time. Well I have this great candy drawer thanks to my husbands, parents, and in-laws treats to me at holidays and candy from Pierce's partys, etc. Pierce just discovered this drawer about a month ago. Its in the kitchen and a bottom drawer in easy sight...probaly not smart of me. Pierce has never gone in it without asking and never taken candy out. Don't get me wrong Pierce loves sweet, but is really good about asking. Then there is Holt. I found him in it the other day taking piece by piece out with the wrapper on and sticking them in his mouth. I guess he was hoping he could taste them through the wrapper. So I guess I'll be moving the candy stash.

Why you don't hand a 3 year old a pen in the back seat...

He knows who I am...

So Holt finally said "ma ma" a few days ago and says it all the time now. I don't know why I was letting it drive me crazy but it was. Everyone told me I would think something was wrong with my second child after Pierce was such an early talker and I have to say I was starting to worry. The ironic thing is Holt is the biggest mamma's boy you have ever seen, I can hardly leave his sight yet he just said my name. Anyways it definately made me smile!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend and are loving having daddy home. We had another fun Easter egg hunt with some friends on Saturday and then a relaxing Easter Sunday. Now I'm ready to pack up what feels like hundreds of eggs all over our house :)

Innocence

I had to share this sweet conversation I had with Pierce last week at my parents. We were at my parents laying on the couch together before bed time and looking up at pictures on top of my parents armoire in the den. I was asking him who he saw in the pictures. He pointed out mommy and daddy, gran and pop, Holt, and Uncle Bill. He then asked me “Mommy what did Uncle Bill like to do?” I said he worked on a golf course. “What else mommy?” He liked motorcycles. “What else mommy?” He loved to talk. “And he’s in heaven now?” He is. "We should go see him mommy.” We will one day and we’ll all be together in heaven. “How do we get there mommy?”

Trash Man in Training

Holt loves to play with Pierce's trash trucks now and Pierce was teaching him the ropes the other day. If only you could of heard him teaching him about it, too cute.

Easter Egg Hunt

I have to point out the picture with Pierce's orange egg he's holding up. Pierce LOVES the color orange. As soon as he found that egg, he said 'mommy orange egg!' He can find the color orange anywhere. He was so excited when Jason left because he told him he was going on an orange plane (are there really orange planes?) . He told his teachers and everyone he saw the next few days that 'my daddy is on an orange' plane. When we play candy land he creates a separate pile for the orange cards. And any chance he can get he picks out an orange shirt. I think there is some connection to this and garbage and construction :)

Here are some cute comments he made this week...

Mommy does daddy have a bed in another country?
Mommy is daddy’s plane on the ground yet? (he asked this for the first 5 days)
Mommy when I get older I’m going to help daddy cut trees down.
Holt when I get older I’m going to babysit for you.
Mommy why is daddy in another country? (he asked this at least 3 times a day, he missed him as much as mommy did I think)
All week I've been building up daddy coming home. 3 more days, 2 more days, etc. So all day today I've been saying daddy's coming home tomorrow. So tonight when we got in the car after small group, I said, "Pierce what is tomorrow?" He said "Trash Day!!" And it is...just not the answer I was looking for.

Fun times with my boys

Pierce helped me pick up the hundreds of sticks in our yard this week. We love the trees at our new house but never realized how many limbs and sticks could fall in a storm. Pierce loved helping me 'break' the sticks in smaller pieces.

Today the boys and I played out on the screened in porch during the rain and made welcome home signs for daddy.

Outside!

The top picture is at chick-fil-a, a frequent stop while Jason was gone.
Holt LOVES the swing, he giggles as soon as I put him in it.

Updates from the Lattas

I guess I’ve been mia in the blogging world. Between Jason being gone for 12 days, the boys, and work, life has been busy. Here's whats been going on with us the past few weeks…the weather has been warming up and we’ve loved getting outside again. The boys love being outside and we spend every minute we can in the front or backyard or meeting friends. Both had a rough beginning to March, Pierce had strep then a virus behind it. Holt had a virus with a scary high fever. We did a parenting class at church for 3 Sundays that was great. We’ve celebrated lots of 30th bdays which has been fun. Holt went from super moody (the shirt was appropriate for the week) to my sweet happy boy again. I think he’s trying to give up a morning nap at 13months! Only my Holt. Pierce busted his upper lip one night and the next night his lower lip. We had a neighborhood Easter egg hunt, Pierce had a ball and we have several ‘easter egg hunts’ a day in our house now. We felt very loved on by our friends and family. Thank you so much to all of you who invited us over for meals and to play, came over to play, made us meals, and called to check on us. I also realized once again how blessed I am to have parents in town, I could not of survived without their help, thank you, you are amazing! And yes I did stay by myself many of nights, which is huge for me, and something I am proud of now:) But still not something I enjoy at all. Jason comes home tomorrow and we could not be more excited!!! Even though he puts in his hours at work I have been reminded with him gone what an incredible daddy and husband he is and a huge help at home! Here are some pictures from the past couple weeks...
