Little Fish, Talking Phenomenon, and a 1st

Pierce has gone from not wanting to go in the big pool or put his head under to diving for sticks in the big pool and swimming! I don't know if its the swim lessons or peer pressure seeing his buddies at the pool doing it but we have been quite impressed. His swim lessons at the Y is one or two teachers to him and one other little boy which has been great. I'm guessing the time slot we chose wasn't too popular but we are enjoying the one on one attention.

Jason and I finally realized why Holt doesn't talk too much. Why would he ever need to talk with a brother that NEVER stops!! Pierce's talking has gotten out of control. Its as if he wakes up in the morning, turns on a button, and doesn't shut it off until he's asleep at night. Those of you with older children are probaly laughing at me but I really had no idea someone could talk nonstop all day long. But truly it is amazing. He tells us the same stories, the same questions, and never runs out of things to say. It is pretty cute..well most of the time, it can also be a little exhausting on mommy some days. He also has picked up on things we say and expressions from friends. The other day I was humbled once again to realize that God can use our children to point out our weaknesses and sins. Such as when we were waiting for daddy to get home from work to eat and Pierce says, "Where in the world is he? This makes me sooo nervous." Unfortunately he was quoting his worry wort of a mommy, although I think he combined two different conversations because usually nervous would not be the word I would choose but maybe mad, frusterated..etc at the end of a 12 hour day. Here are some other cute sayings this week...

"Remind me to go to the store and buy some napkins and stuff." (he adds and stuff on to a lot of his sentences??)

"I have like two of these." (like is also inserted into most sentences)

"That's pretty cool mommy."

We had a big first in the Latta family this weekend. The boys BOTH slept until 7:45 on saturday morning. I know to my friends with late sleepers this is not big deal but this is a huge deal in our house. Both of our boys have never slept this late together, ever ever, and even better it was a Saturday. Holt actually slept until 8:30 that morning which was another first. And then took a 3 hour nap that day which is maybe a second!

What we have been up to...

Looking at the butterflies at the nature museum

Here's what we have been doing the past couple weeks...

Last weekend we headed to Durham friday night and then Jason and I left Saturday morning to go to Brynn and Elam's wedding in Wilmington. It was beautiful and so much fun. It felt like a mini college reunion and it was great to hang out with friends we do not get to see much. The boys did great in Durham. We had father's day lunch with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop, Corie, Daniel and Aidan and Brody. We are quite a clan now with 3 babies and a 3 year old. In a little over a year the Latta family grandchildren quadroupled. We went to dinner with Gran and Pop in Charlotte. I have to say I am so blessed with an incredible dad, father-in-law, and husband!! They all do so much for us and love us so well. Jason is the best daddy and husband I could hope for. Thank you!!

This week we had some fun play dates, went to he pool, visited the nature museum with Bethany and Merrin, and went to VBS at church. I helped with crafts with the 'big' kids and Pierce did the preschool program which he really loved. Holt was in the nursery and although 3 hours was a bit long the first day he was a trooper the other two. Pierce also started swim lessons at the Y this week. He loved them on Monday and Wednesday was a bit questionable, but hoping he will enjoy them. He went under in the big pool yesterday by himself which he was very proud of and mommy was too. Its been a busy week, but fun!

Holt's getting hair

Beach Weekend

We spent this weekend at the beach. Pierce was so excited to go back, all last week he talked about it and told everyone he saw that he was going to the beach. Its fun to see his excitement now that he really gets it. They loved being on the beach and I really think they would stay out there all day long if we let them. Holt went on his first boat ride and Pierce got to fish off the boat for a little bit. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Trouble!

Are these boys really old enough to operating a moving vehicle? They say ages 3-7 but I’m not too sure. William got this Ford 1-50 and invited Pierce over to play. He loved it! It was hilarious to watch him drive it because he didn’t quite get the gas concept that you have to keep your foot down. And the reverse was tricky too. William on the other hand has mastered driving it. Pierce only ran into the deck once and thankfully him and the car were ok.
