Last post for today I promise...

Holt has decided to start taking good afternoon naps so I'm enjoying them while they last and catching up on blogging as you can tell.

Cute comment by Pierce today...
Today when we were leaving Target, Pierce said ‘Mommy look at that fancy car over there. Maybe we can ride in one of those one day’. I look over to see a royal blue Toyota Rav 4. Not that there is anything wrong with this car but probably wouldn’t be the fancy car I would point out that I would like to ride in. I just love the innocence of children and lack of materialism that unfortunately I fall prey to all too often.

Another side note/open to comments…I do get Pierce’s haircut. I often wonder myself did I actually go get his haircut 2 days ago? I think the children’s hair cut places cut just enough so that you will have to come back in a couple weeks. Although this last one was great clips and you still could barely tell. Although I really do see them cut a lot off, he can just have some crazy hair days where it doesn’t make a difference as you can attest to in my bed head shot. I love the curls when he’s sweating or wet so I’m not complaining too much. But if anyone has someone they love who does good kids haircuts I would love the name.

Fire Station

We stopped by a fire station today and this is my shy Pierce in front of the truck. He was begging to go but then was almost scared of the fireman. He told us a lot of the kids get scared, maybe he was making us feel good. He enjoyed it in the end. FYI you can stop by any firehouse and go in as long as they are not on a call. They give you coloring book, sticker, etc and are super nice. I’m always welcome to other outing ideas, now that we have an open summer, if you ever want to post them in my comments.

Aviation Museum

Daddy and Pop took the boys to the Aviation Museum by the airport on Saturday. Jason has wanted to take Pierce forever and I'm pretty sure he and Pop enjoyed it as much as the boys. Can you tell from the pictures that my boys adore Pop just a little bit, even over me sometimes!

End of the Year Picnic

Pierce had his end of the year picnic for preschool at Pineville park, a great park by the way if you've never visited. This picture is with Pierce, Holt, Coleman, and Keller. Holt looked like such a big boy to me in this picture. He climbed up on the bench and was eating a snack out of a ziplock...I know its not a big deal but it just hit me that day how fast they grow up. Keller is one of Pierce's best buddies. Today I said Pierce what do you want to do today. Umm mommy I think we should play with Keller. Then I had to tell him he will be at camp all summer. Good thing he doesn't really understand that. Although whenever I tell Pierce Keller is at camp for the weekend he says 'mommy we should go to Keller's mountain'. We went up their in the fall and ever since its been called Keller's mountain. We will miss you guys more than you know!!

Oh and while I'm being sentimental I'll share the neat story about Camp Lurecrest where Jeremy (Lindsay's husband) is the director. I grew up going to this incredible camp and really learned who Jesus was here and about a relationship with him. My brother also worked at this camp and because of this camp we know without a doubt that he is in heaven. So its dear to our familys heart. In come the White's who moved on Deer Spring when Lindsay was pregnant with Keller. And they have been involved at camp forever and now Jeremy' runs it. Pretty small world. If anyone is every looking for an awesome Christian camp to send their kids to take a look at Lurecrest!

Bad Hair Day

This was a picture of Pierce's hair one morning when he got up. I did not touch it, it was pretty amazing on its own. He definately got the Grissom frizz!

Oh another cute story about Pierce. For those of you who know him well this won't suprise you. At Chick-fil-a last month the 'toy' was CD's with different languages teaching basic skills. When I was changing out a music CD in the car a couple weeks ago I came across it. I asked Pierce if he wanted to here Spanish. Of course he said yes, but I was thinking as soon as he heard talking instead of music he would want it off. But not my Pierce he asks for it literally everytime we get in the car and loves to repeat it back. Mommy might accidently lose this one soon :) One phrase is 'whats your name?' In spanish, Come se llama? But Pierce says 'Come se mommy' Of course we laughed so now a few times a day he says 'Come se mommy'.

Mexico!

Jason and I got to spend 5 amazing days in Mexico. It was wonderful and we enjoyed the time away and being together. We LOVED the resort and are planning on going back in a realistic 3 to 5 years if anyone wants to come along :) It was all inclusive which was really fun, we had never done this before. We also both got massages and spent lots of time laying out, reading, and eating! We did miss our boys a ton and could not of been more excited to see them! Gran and Pop and Mom Mom and Pop Pop did great with them, thank you, thank you for giving us the chance to get away and know Pierce and Holt were in such good hands. Here are some pictures from our trip. When we got to the airport we realized we left the battery for our camera so we had to buy a disposable..hence the pictures.

Messy Boy!

I fed the boys spaghetti the other night. I have finally relinquished the spoon to Holt. I’m not the neatest person in the world but he is the messiest so I’ve avoided doing this. I guess Jason had not seen this in action until Thursday night. Jason is pretty neat and this was driving him crazy so it was funny to me just to watch it stress Jason out. Holt was covered in spaghetti sauce top to bottom as well as the chair and booster seat. It even made it inside his diaper.

The Zoo

Jason took the day off Friday, thanks Daddy!! We headed to Columbia to go to the zoo. We thought going in May on a Friday we would beat the crowds and the heat. We were wrong there. We did have a great time and they both enjoyed all the animals. Although when I asked Pierce his favorite he said the sharks...well next time we'll just go to Discovery Place and see their shark instead of driving for an hour and half :)

Water Fun

Thursday we went to Bethany's house and played in the water with Merrin. Saturday the pool opened and we spend a couple hours playing. Holt loves the water! He was not scared of it at all (such a different experience from Pierce at first) and loved being in the babypool. Jason says Holt is going to be his little surfer. Pierce enjoyed being back in the water too and playing with his friends.

Strawberry Picking

We went strawberry picking on Saturday afternoon. Pierce loved picking the strawberries and Holt loved eating them. He was eating them straight from the field and we were both covered in red juice when we finished. Megan had told me about how great their homemade strawberry ice cream was, so of course we had to try it out when we finished.

Digging up Trees

We finally started to dig up some of the dead bushes in our yard this weekend. It started with Pop showing mommy how to get them up and then daddy taking over. Then both boys grabbed their shovels to ‘help’ us. A friend of mine from church told me a quote I loved last night and have found to be so true thus far, especially with Pierce… “Boys love their mommy’s, but want to be just like their daddy’s.”

Playdate

Analise, Zoey, Holt, & Pierce
Last week a good friend of mine who I grew up with at church came over with her two girls. They have lived in Brazil for the past several years but just moved to Miami to start a church. We only get to see them about once a year but its fun to see our kids now play together and neat that we have stayed in touch all these years. We will be praying for you guys as you launch your church, it was so great to see you and catch up.

Things I learned this week...

1. Do not take your children for a walk in the stroller when rain is possible. I think it was Monday afternoon when both the boys were up from a nap by 3 when they had gone down at 2. Knowing that we had several more hours till daddy arrived home and no plans mommy thought it would be good to get out of the house and go on a walk. I should of listened to Holly not long before our walk when she said it looked like it was getting ready to pour at her house. But she's in north Charlotte and I saw sunny skies outside and for some reason thought it wasn't heading this way. About 15 minutes into our walk it starts to look a little dark. Of course we are 15 minutes from home. So I immediately start heading back as the sky becomes darker and darker. I start to run, however pushing 60 lbs in a double jogger up the hills in our neighborhood is not the easiest of tasks. Then the rain starts. It goes from nothing to a downpour. We are SOAKED in seconds and still about 10 minutes from home. Thank goodness I took my cell because I call Sarah to call Shelly because I don't know her number but we are close to her house and I'm hoping for shelter. Shelly was home and welcomed us with towels and dry clothes. I was impressed, she has two girls and managed to find us 'gender neutral clothes.' Probaly ten minutes later the sun was out again, weird day.

2. Do not store Shout beside a Tilex bottle. I keep the Shout upstairs under our bathroom sink to spray the stains on every article of clothing worn by the boys and usually me that day. I had a new top come out of the dryer the other day with huge bleach spots all over it. I remember it having stains and me spraying it but couldn't figure out where all the bleach came from. Until...the next night when I start spraying some of my favorite pants and start smelling a strong cleaning smell. I look at the bottle and I have just sprayed them with TILEX!!
