Latta mishaps and happenings...

I haven't had much time to blog lately between work and our craziness around here. We've had some eventful and unplanned few weeks but we are surviving. I thought I'd embarrass myself a bit and give a good laugh with some funny Courtney stories. I'm going to blame them on the pregnancy hormones running through my body.
Sunday night we had dinner at my parents with my cousin Alexis and her fiance Steve. As we were finishing up dinner, the subject of cars came up and we got to the minivan and they wanted to go outside and see it. Not unusual for me but I couldn't find the keys anywhere inside. At this point Alexis and Steve are already outside waiting so I decide to go ahead out and look in the car, maybe I left them there. This would not be the norm for me. When I get out there Steve informs me that the keys are in the car and the car is running!! At this point we had been at my parents for a good two hours and our new car has been parked on the street running ever since. Ooops! Jason was with me and I did get out of the car first..however, I will take the blame.
On Wednesday morning I decided to try a first. We've had a treadmill for several months now and I would say I use it about once a week but usually at night when Jason is bathing boys or sometimes if he goes in later and lets me do it in the morning. Several of my girlfriends now have exercise equipment in their garage as well b/c this is our last effort to still try to exercise and save time. Some of them have told me they will get on and let their kids play out in the garage while they exercise. I had never attempted this but exercise has gone the curb with working and life and we had some extra time before preschool so I decided to give it a try. The boys were thrilled to play in the garage and it actually worked quite well. Until... I was finished and we had 5 minutes to leave for school and I go to open the door and grab our things and the door is locked! So we are locked of the house, no spare key in site and I just saw my only neighbor with a key drive off about five minutes before this and I don't have her cell phone in the garage with me. Thank goodness my mom was home and available to come over and let us back in the house.

New sayings and such..
Pierce's new favorite thing to say is "But mommy...." I hear it a hundred times a day and its driving me crazy but the habit is well established so we are working hard to break it. Its usually "but mommy I want to go outside, have a snack, take something to school, go to gran and pops, etc" But its also used just to talk, "but mommy lets do a craft now, etc." I'm not doing it justice explaining it but it rings in my ear all day long.
His other new thing is clothing and underwear selection. He gets his chair in his room and picks out what he wants to wear for the day. However, not always my choice. A hooded sweatshirt on a 75 degree day, an nc state warm up suit that is too small and the wore the previous five days, or underwear that is dirty(not in the drawer) but has dinosaurs and he wants to wear again to show his friends at school (we are trying to tell him underwear is not something we show our friends at school).
Holt also is particular and ask for the same puppy shirt everyday and then gets quite upset when I say no. He also has been potty training(a whole different story) and is quite opinionated when it comes to his underwear. I know this is a control issue for me with the clothing so I guess I'll eventually just let them wear things and not care..but not quite there yet.

Never say never...

Yes, I said I would never own a minivan...but look what we purchased last night. I must admit I really do like it. I haven't even driven it yet but I'm sure it will really set in this week that I am officially a minivan mom. Since we are having a third child in two months we thought it would be nice to be able to fit them all in the same car :)

Boys and Rocks

This is the pile of rocks that I pulled out of the boys pockets tonight when they got in the bath tub. They constantly stick rocks in their pockets and after two trips to the playground today this is the stash we ended up with. The picture doesn't even do it justice, there was 50+ rocks in their pockets along with some nice dirt. Good think I know to check pockets before washing clothes now :)

Snow...

Its hard to believe that a week ago today we had snow covering the ground and now its beautiful and 75 degrees. The boys once again loved being out in it and couldn't get enough of the snow.

2 Year Check Up and more pics

Holt has his two year check up on Friday. He weighed 30 lbs 9 oz and was 37 inches tall, 75 percentile for weight and 97 percentile for height.

More Birthday Pics

We had a small birthday party with Holt's buddy Coleman at Plaza fiesta a couple weekends ago. Its funny because this place is probaly better suited for 4 year olds but our two year olds think they are four and held their own out there with the older kids.

Happy 2nd Birthday Holt!!!

Today is Holt's 2nd bithday. I can't believe my baby is two. I feel like we just had him yesterday. He brings so much joy to our house. He is passionate and happy and yes sometimes a little strong willed. He adores his brother and always keeps us laughing.

Last night when I got home at 9:30 I realized I only had one present for him. I felt bad considering when Pierce turned two I probaly had 10 presents and had them bought for a month. I had planned on picking up something this week but time got away from us. Its really hard to come up with ideas when it seems like we have every 'boy ' toy there is and following Pierce's bday and then Christmas we are pretty well stocked. However, I scored big with the one present I did get him. For anyone who sees me pick up Pierce at preschool everyday, sees our frequent stuggle over who carries Pierce's lunch box. Holt has been obssessed with it all year and wants to hold it ALL the time. We finally worked out a system where Pierce carries it into school and Holt carries it out. Well, I thought what would Holt really want for his bday? A lunch box!! So I paid a ridiculous amount..but well worth it..to get him a trendy lunch box with his name on it like his brothers. It has been on his arm ever since we gave it to him this morning. He took in every store and of course we took in into school to pick up Pierce and show Mrs. Holly and Mrs. Susan what a big boy we were now.

Pierce had donuts with daddy at school so I took Holt to get his bday donut too. We ate a whole one with no problem..and mommy and the baby had to have one too! We then went to Toys'r'us and I let him pick out a couple presents..I know you usually do this before there bday. Thanks for the idea Megan! He picked out a fish water bottle and a Nemo book, he loves fish right now. I also got him some new bubbles for outside. Then we ran a couple errands and he got some chick'fil'a nuggets for lunch, one of his favorites. Tonight we are doing dinner with Gran and Pop. I will post more pictures later. Happy Birthday Holt!
