This past week we had our symbling tour at CMC. I think Pierce gets it this time but not so sure Holt does. He did enjoy seeing the babies but the snack at the end was definately his highlight. It was a cute tour and definately got us excited about this baby and its arrival. When I asked Holt what we saw at the hospital he said 'monkeys'. Hopefully this is not what he is expecting to come out of my tummy. Pierce is getting excited and a few days a week he'll ask me when the baby is coming and tell me how he is going to help. Holt tells me the nursery is the baby's room now and that he's going to hold the baby so I think he's coming along too. Enjoy the pics of them in their scrubs...

Fires, Volcanos, and Fighting
Here is a picture of the boys last weekend by the fire pit. We had some friends over for dinner and Jason made a fire. The boys loved it and were roasting sticks over it and gathering wood the whole time it was going.
Volcanoes..Pierce loves volcanoes. About a month ago I found a show on the science channel for him to watch and ever since he is mesmerized by them. That show accidentally got deleted but I found another one this week and it is his favorite thing to watch. Its a documentary on Hawaii that tells how the islands were formed, etc. Things like this make me see Jason in him all the more, Jason loves weather and any show that could be found on the science channel and Pierce follows right in his footsteps. So when you hear him explaining about lava..you will know why. Only my Pierce.
So I must say I have been really blessed by these two boys and how much they love each other. And up until the past two weeks they really did get along. Amazingly well, I now realize. However, as Holt has started to get really verbal the fighting is on. What good timing with the baby so close. Today they fought for an hour over the hose while Jason washed the car, this morning over who had the Lighting McQueen plate, and I could go on and on. I guess I should be thankful for the peace while we had it and pray they will learn to love each other well and share again soon.

April 15th
Well..its actually April 16th now but I officially finished working tax season yesterday. Now I can start on my 'to do list before the baby.' I can already feel the nesting kicking in with just over 3 weeks to go. Thanks so much to my amazing coworkers who added one more pregnant girl to the mix (there were 4 of us pregnant!). I love working with you guys, using my brain, and even getting out of the house some. I do love being a stay at home mom and feel blessed to have the priviledge but I also really value my time at work each season and it gives me a whole new respect and perspective for my friends who do such an great job balancing the work and home life all year round. My hats go off to you! And a huge thank you to my parents who take care of the boys so well and adjust their life to allow me to work for tax season. I think the boys are actually sad that I'm done because it means less time at gran and pops.

Moving In...
We finally did it last night and made the transition to put Holt in a big boy bed and in his brother's room. They have been so excited to sleep in the same room and Pierce talked about it all day long. Overall it went really well. We set up the video camera b/c we were so curious what they would do but it was pretty uneventful. We put them down at 8 and they were both out by 9:15 which wasn't too bad for the first night. I did try to convince Holt all day long that we would leave the paci and his blanket in the crib for the baby but I did give in with the paci when he wouldn't stay in the bed the first half hour. But I'm still happy to say we are done with the blanket, one down, one to go. They had some interesting conversation and sweet giggles but stayed in bed until 7:15 this morning so we were thankful! Holt took a nap at my parents after lunch today so we will see how the nap in the big boy bed goes tomorrow. I just put them down tonight and they didn't even talk for 5 minutes, guess we wore them out today!

Latta mishaps and happenings...
I haven't had much time to blog lately between work and our craziness around here. We've had some eventful and unplanned few weeks but we are surviving. I thought I'd embarrass myself a bit and give a good laugh with some funny Courtney stories. I'm going to blame them on the pregnancy hormones running through my body.
Sunday night we had dinner at my parents with my cousin Alexis and her fiance Steve. As we were finishing up dinner, the subject of cars came up and we got to the minivan and they wanted to go outside and see it. Not unusual for me but I couldn't find the keys anywhere inside. At this point Alexis and Steve are already outside waiting so I decide to go ahead out and look in the car, maybe I left them there. This would not be the norm for me. When I get out there Steve informs me that the keys are in the car and the car is running!! At this point we had been at my parents for a good two hours and our new car has been parked on the street running ever since. Ooops! Jason was with me and I did get out of the car first..however, I will take the blame.
On Wednesday morning I decided to try a first. We've had a treadmill for several months now and I would say I use it about once a week but usually at night when Jason is bathing boys or sometimes if he goes in later and lets me do it in the morning. Several of my girlfriends now have exercise equipment in their garage as well b/c this is our last effort to still try to exercise and save time. Some of them have told me they will get on and let their kids play out in the garage while they exercise. I had never attempted this but exercise has gone the curb with working and life and we had some extra time before preschool so I decided to give it a try. The boys were thrilled to play in the garage and it actually worked quite well. Until... I was finished and we had 5 minutes to leave for school and I go to open the door and grab our things and the door is locked! So we are locked of the house, no spare key in site and I just saw my only neighbor with a key drive off about five minutes before this and I don't have her cell phone in the garage with me. Thank goodness my mom was home and available to come over and let us back in the house.
New sayings and such..
Pierce's new favorite thing to say is "But mommy...." I hear it a hundred times a day and its driving me crazy but the habit is well established so we are working hard to break it. Its usually "but mommy I want to go outside, have a snack, take something to school, go to gran and pops, etc" But its also used just to talk, "but mommy lets do a craft now, etc." I'm not doing it justice explaining it but it rings in my ear all day long.
His other new thing is clothing and underwear selection. He gets his chair in his room and picks out what he wants to wear for the day. However, not always my choice. A hooded sweatshirt on a 75 degree day, an nc state warm up suit that is too small and the wore the previous five days, or underwear that is dirty(not in the drawer) but has dinosaurs and he wants to wear again to show his friends at school (we are trying to tell him underwear is not something we show our friends at school).
Holt also is particular and ask for the same puppy shirt everyday and then gets quite upset when I say no. He also has been potty training(a whole different story) and is quite opinionated when it comes to his underwear. I know this is a control issue for me with the clothing so I guess I'll eventually just let them wear things and not care..but not quite there yet.

Never say never...
Yes, I said I would never own a minivan...but look what we purchased last night. I must admit I really do like it. I haven't even driven it yet but I'm sure it will really set in this week that I am officially a minivan mom. Since we are having a third child in two months we thought it would be nice to be able to fit them all in the same car :)
